1. Our dogs available for adoption can be viewed here, at Petfinder or at Adopt-A-Pet. When viewing the dog there is a notation stating Adoption Pending this means we are processing an application for this dog. If for some reason the home does not prove to be the right one, the Adoption Pending will be removed from the dog and if successful they are moved to our Happy Tails page.
2. Once you view a dog you would like to adopt, please e-Mail Adoptions to request an adoption application. We then send the application out via e-Mail and we ask that you return it via e-Mail or fax 1-866-837-9051 but the original copy with an original signature must be mailed via regular mail to the address on the application. We do process applications in the order in which they are received.
3. Once we receive the application, we check three references ( a vet reference and two personal references who have seen you interacting with animals).
4. Once the references are complete, we contact you and arrange a home visit where we come to your home and bring the dog you are interested in adopting so you can can interact with the dog in your environment (this is done whenever possible unless geography presents an issue). All members of the household must be present during a home visit.
5. Once the home visit report is completed and submitted to our Board of Directors, we contact the family to let them know about adoption. We do have an adoption contract and one of our members will fill this contract out with you an receive the adoption fee. You receive a copy of the contract along with a vetting sheet.
6. All approved adopters must have a tag with their information ready to place on the dogs collar at the time of the adoption.
Our adoption fees include all the vetting the dog required in our care however heartworm testing is not done by the rescue and is the responsibility of the adopter. The following adoption fees apply.
0-2 year old dog: $325.00
3-8 year old dog: $300.00
9 years of age and older: $225.00
