My name is Annabell. My mom is a salt and pepper Miniature Schnauzer and my dad is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I was born on April 14, 2007 and weigh 14 pounds.

I look quite a bit like a schnauzer but my undercoat must be more like my dad’s spaniel side of the family because I do shed but if you brush me every day it really helps. I have the cutest little piggy tail that curls over my back. I have recently been spayed and my vaccinations are up to date.

My foster mom says I’m a real sweetheart and that I’m full of beans (she can’t mean that literally as I mainly eat doggie kibble and carrots). She was very pleased at how easily I have adjusted to my new brother and sister dogs. My foster mom thinks I would do well in a home with another well adjusted dog – I’d sure like to have another young playful doggie brother or sister to wrestle with as its one of my favorite activities. I love to go, go, go! If I do say so myself, I’m a very agile, upbeat little girl who likes lots of activity, both mental and physical. I’m a really good jumper so I need a tall secure fence to keep me in. I attended puppy obedience at 8 months of age with my former owner. I was born at my former owner’s house so they even have my puppy pictures to pass on to my new forever family.

My foster mom says that my new family should not have any young children (even though I love them) but older kids who are responsible would suit me just fine. The main reason she said only “older” kids is because I need to be taken outside on a regular basis to do pottie duty. She recommends that someone take me out (and of course bring me back in) about every three to four hours during the day and evening. At night I’m quite content to stay put on my foster parent’s bed and don’t need to go outside until I wake up then I hop out of bed and need to go out right away. In my new home I need an adult who can come home and let me out at lunch time if they work or better yet, one who stays home with me!

I must tell you that the reason I need to be taken out regularly is that I was not absolutely housebroken in my old house for two good reasons. The first was that my former owner, who I loved to bits and she too loved me (with all her heart) was forced, due to uncontrollable circumstances in her life, to work long, long 8 to 12 hour shifts, day after day and she could not come home to let me out so I could be let outside to do my business in my yard. I was in a heated porch with food and water and two other older dogs but I learned that I could go on the newspapers or beside it or wherever I chose to. The second reason is that I had recently developed a big bladder stone (kind of like a snowball that kept getting bigger and bigger) and it made me want to try to piddle every 5 or 10 minutes (at least that’s what it seemed like to me).

Now that my stone is gone and is no longer blocking my “plumbing”, I can hold it for so much longer and I don’t have very many accidents now but sometimes I get busy playing and forget to tell anyone I need to go outside. My bladder stone was a struvite stone which means that if I’m fed the proper type of food (veterinarian recommended), I shouldn’t develop any further stones.

I love to run and play. I love doing things with people and sitting on laps when you are watching tv. I like to give kisses and I’m so very cute! My foster mom says I am a wonderful, loving, happy little dog. I’d like to have lots of attention and exercise and I dream of a big fenced back yard so I can play outside with my toys and my family.

Teddy - 6 Year Old, Male Schnauzer

Hello, my name is Teddy and I’m a very friendly, energetic 6 year old Schnauzer. Unfortunately, I came from a very bad place and was always kept in a cage. Now I have a whole new world to discover and I’m loving every minute of it! My foster mom keeps saying that I’m always acting like a puppy and I make her laugh all the time. She also says that I’m 90% house trained which I think is pretty good and that I learn very quickly. I have learned how to sit, give “high fives” and lots of kisses. I absolutely love to have my belly rubbed and being massaged all over! I could lay there for hours if you keep doing it and I’ll let you know when you stop that I want MORE! I get along well with other dogs at my foster home and most of the time with the cat too. Where I came from I was used as a stud but now that’s been taken care of. I’m neutered, microchipped and my vaccines are all up-to-date. I also had my teeth cleaned and now I have pearly whites! Are you my next and last stop to become my forever family?

Hi! My name is Danny. Im an adorable and angelic looking (if I must say so myself!) 9 year old miniature poodle. I was found lost and alone on the streets of Quinte, all matted and dirty, and TinyPaws rescued me. I have been someones beloved pet in the past as I have many skills. I stare at the door to go outside to do my business and bark to come in when Im done. I dont bark very much at other times though. Im not crazy about being in a crate and prefer to sleep on a dog bed by my foster moms bed. I dont say a peep all night.

Im only 71/2 lbs right now but could afford to put on a bit more weight. It seems Im used to people food as I stare at my Moms food as she eats and lick my chops. Ive been told this is impolite and promise to work at not doing it. I eat my dog food just fine and know it is better for me. Im a very good and patient boy when I am bathed and groomed. I will need a bath and a hair cut about every 5-6 weeks. I should be brushed 2-3 times per week to look my best.

When TinyPaws took me in I received all my vacinations, my microchip, and my teeth cleaned, oh, and my manhood taken away. I get along well with my 2 foster poodle sisters and dont have a mean bone in my body. The vet said I have no health concerns. I am starting to get cataracts, but that is common and requires no medical intervention. It doesnt slow me down at all. Im not crazy about stairways. Right now I can handle a couple stairs(preferably carpeted) but dont do well with alot of them. Probably with some love and patience I could learn as I am very smart. I dont think anyone ever took the time to teach me.

I am a 9 year old Maltese Mix, I have been spayed and up to date on her vaccines. I also have had my teeth cleaned, so no more bad breath, just pearly whites. I am just a little girl and weigh about 6 lbs.

Wiggles is a very affectionate, sweet little girl. She loves people and greets everyone she meets with a wagging tail and wiggles in excitement. She jumps up and down when she sees her harness and would love to go on long walks as she is very active while outside, her foster mom has been trying to teach her the correct way to walk on a leash, however she just wants to go,go,go. Even though her activity level is high outside, while at home she is just happy to sit on your lap and cuddle.

Wiggles came to Tiny Paws with an injury on her back that had healed and scarred, we're not sure what the scar is from, however she is such an easygoing little girl nothing seems to bother her.

Whether I'm gone for 5 hours...or 5 minutes, Wiggles always happily greets me at the door with a toy or slipper in her mouth, trying to lick my face while holding the toy in her mouth at the same time! She's a very special little girl that greets everyone as if they were special too.

Muffit is my name and I am about 3 1/2 years old. When I first came to Tiny Paws, I was very timid and a little nervous, in my other home, I didn't get out much and was a little nervous of some humans, I would just roll over and appear passive if someone came near me. With the help of my 3 foster fur brothers, I have learned to have fun and now enjoy playing with humans and other dogs like myself. I just loveeeee to be outside and I hope in my new home that I can have a great backyard that is fenced to keep me safe and yet have all the running room and sniffing spots to keep me happy. I do get a little possessive about some of my things and my foster family is trying to teach me some new rules and to be learn to give things up when I am told, so I need a family who is firm with rules and have some experience with training. I am almost housetrained, still working on that too, I tell ya, this has been boot camp being here, but I am very happy. I love kids as well and I am very happy when they come to visit, but they need to be over 10 years old and also know how to be gentle and kind with dogs. Now that is the stuff you need to know, but remember I am also very loving and sweet boy, and I will make a great pet with the right family to love forever.

Hi gang, Miko here and now you can start fighting over me, oh yes, I am a great dog, laid back, 90% housetrained, and working hard to follow these human rules, and boy do you folks have a lot of them. I was rescued by Tiny Paws from a horrid home, that was so dirty, the mice moved out. I wish we were that small to escape, but lucky for us some kind people came and rescued me and my sisters and brothers. There were no rules where we lived before, but the rules are okay when you have a clean place to sleep and food regularly. We all went to the doctors and man oh man what we went through to get cleaned up, inside and outside. But now we all look great and smell a heck of a lot better and doing our best to get the rules right. I love cuddles and belly rubs are the best thing that ever happened to me.

My ears have been pretty stinky, but we are coming to the point of being completely cleared up. I weigh about 24 lbs and still could stand to lose a few more, I am 8 years old and still have a great deal of mileage left on me. I am just learning to walk with a leash and it is becoming enjoyable, although I am not crazy about the cold. I am up to date with vaccines and they did try to reduce my manhood with a neuter, but I am still all guy, my foster mom says I walk like a boxer, I like to think of it as more of a sway with confidence.

Okay, not don't fight over me, just get those apps in.

Newf - 2-3 Year Old, Male King Charles Mix

This sweet boy is a 2-3 yr old male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix (perhaps Piebald Dachshund). He weighs 18.8lbs and has a long body with short legs. He is a very healthy boy, he is up to date on his vaccines and scheduled for his neuter February 12th. Newf is also microchipped.

Newf is happy and well mannered. He will sit by the door when he needs to go out. He ignores cats but loves other dogs, especially if they're around the same size. He does not have any issues with food or toys. He will even back away from the bowl if my cat pokes his head in. He will let anyone around his toys but if he has his squeeky in his mouth he won't let go if you touch it, not because he's aggressive but because he wants you to tug on it. We are working on this.

Obedience training would be a great idea for little Newfie. Although he is a perfect gentleman in the house he gets really excited when he's outside and will pull on the leash. We are also working on this. He is so full of life and energy I think he would be awesome as an agility dog.

Newf is just happy to be loved. He enjoys the company of both men and women. No information on children but he is such a happy boy we don't forsee any problems. Although his favourite place to sleep is under the covers by your feet, he is slowly being crate trained. He will bark for a few minutes when he is first put in the crate but settles quickly without anxiety.

Newfie is a wonderful, fun, affectionate boy and will be missed when he finds his perfect furever home. He is being fostered in Nova Scotia.

Approximately 3 1/2 years old, 20 lb female, Pom / Sheltie mix. Her tail was previously broken at age 1 1/2. Mofait is a gentle girl she has had no obedience training but is quick to catch on, if you show her what to do. She gets along with my dogs but I think she would prefer to be living alone with her humans. She loves to be close to you while in the house but she really enjoys sitting outside on the deck watching the goings on of the day.

She's been friendly with new people that she meets in the house or on a walk.

Mofait likes to have her coat brushed, but is a little sensitive around her hind quarters at first. Now that she trusts me she is fine. Of all the dogs I have had here she has had the least adjustments to make.

"Just show me where the water/food, bed and door to go out is, and I'm good."

She has been the best house guest I have ever had.

Is an 8 year old smooth coat chihuahua. She's a very sweet, affectionate little girl and loves attention. Shelby is a little bit fearful of strangers, however she likes people and comes out to greet new visitors. She is very comfortable with other dogs and cats. Shelby would be best suited with a person / family that can give her alot of love and attention that she just pines for, she loves to sit on my lap and takes in every hug that she can get. When calling her name with enthusiasm she will actually smile and whine in excitement. Although Shelby loves the attention she will become startled at sudden movements and will jump off my lap, however, when I call her name she comes running back for more hugs. Shelby only barks when someone comes knocking at the door, otherwise she's a very quiet little girl. Although Shelby is 8 years old she is in exceptional shape, she's been spayed and has had her dental work done. She is also up to date on her vaccines and is ready for her forever home. She is paper trained, at this time I am working on her leash training, it will take some time, however, she is doing very well and catches on quickly. Trusting someone is her motivation.

Hi there, I’m Bruzer! I’m a handsome 5 year old Chihuahua / Min Pin cross. I am neutered, micro chipped and up to date on all my shots. I weigh about 11 pounds, I’m a bit chubby but am working on that with my foster mom – she gives me healthy food and lots of exercise. There aren’t any other fosters living here, but there are lots of doggies in the neighborhood and I get along with all of them. I’ve never lived with small kids but because I’m small myself, I might be best in an adult home.

My last family said I marked in the house. There were other pets in the house though and since I like the attention to be on me, marking may have been my way of getting it. Whatever the case may be, I’m the only doggy here and I get lots of attention from my foster parents and they take me out regularly and I’ve never had any accidents. They play games with me, my favorite being get-the-squeaky-toy. I also love to go for walks, running in the snow is a blast, but just being outside is so interesting and so much fun, I’m always excited to go. But above all, I love to cuddle and sleep on your lap, it’s my favorite thing. I sleep quietly in my crate at night and when no one is home. I’m working hard on my manners. I get so excited at things like going outside to play, or eating dinner, I like to bounce all around my foster mom. But I’ve learned patience is key and I must sit before the door is opened, before my leash goes on, and before my dinner is put down. It’s tough but I’m doing great with it and I’m proud of myself for that. I don’t bark much and am used to being in a condo building.

Tobi - 8 Year Old, Male Shih Tzu

Tobi is an active 8 yr old, black and white Shih-tzu, weighing about 19 lbs. He is neutered and up to date with vaccines and microchipped. He has also had his teeth cleaned and Full Blood Panel done with normal results.

Tobi came to Tiny Paws with an eye infection as well as his ears, but he is in great shape now with no health concerns. Tobi also had 3 warts removed from his face and neck. He does have a couple more near his back hips, but the vet feels they are of no concern unless they bother him. Warts are common in Shih-tzus and in most cases, there is no concerns.

Tobi has a very quiet disposition and was a little apprehensive when he was first fostered, he will most likely display the same behaviour when he is in his new home for a short time. Tobi accepted his foster family with the help of three other companions in the home. He likes to play with them and displays no aggression when doing so. He loves tug of war with fluffy things and group wrestling with his new pals.

Tobi is very quiet and loveable, loves to lay on his fosters lap when watching T.V. and normally falls asleep being petted.

Tobi loves the outdoors and will spend a lot of time there if you let him. He is extremely well trained and housebroken. When the family is out, he sits impatiently waiting for their return. When people enter the home he is overjoyed in seeing them and greets them with a lot of excitement.

Any family would be very fortunate to have Tobi as a member of their family.

Hi my name is Moka, I am 13 months old, and I weigh about 12 lbs. I am a Silky Terrier/Mix, I am a little underweight, but with time and extra of the good grub like I get around here, I should beef up soon.

I am an out of town girl, but I like it here and I am making new friends. I still have a great deal to learn and boy there sure are a lot of rules to remember, puppy school would most likely help me learn faster. I also need to learn how to stay in my crate and relax when the humans are gone too. I hope my new family will take me to school and have some patience to give me a chance to learn all the rules.

I love my toys and could play fetch for hours, or until someone’s arm falls off. Lol. I have a ton of energy and love walks and playing games outside too. I am not too crazy about the cold to stay outside for very long, a nice sweater helps. I love to snuggle and give great kisses too.

I have just been spayed and all my shots are done, I have had a check up and the doc says I am ready to go, all I need to do is find a new family and boy oh boy am I excited about that.

I hope my new family has another dog that likes to play. I have been a little greedy when it comes to sharing my toys, I like to hoard them and keep them all to myself, sharing is something I am working on with my foster mom and family.

Benji - 7 Year Old, Male Shih Tzu

Hi, my name is Benji. I am a 7 yr old Shih-tzu and weigh about 18 lbs. I was almost 20 lbs. when I came here, but I have been on a diet and losing weight well. I still need to lose a couple more which is making me feel better and move around more easily. As you can see by my pics, I am a very quiet laid back guy. I did have to have my coat shaved down as I was pretty messy and it has now started to grow nicely. I used to have some skin issues as well, but since I have been here, they are almost all cleared up and I am not itchy anymore. I also need to stay on a grain free diet as that is what has helped my skin.

I did have a couple of lumps removed and my teeth cleaned, also a hernia repair. Now I am in tip top shape and ready for my forever home. I am 99% housetrained and I don't mind being on my own for part of the day. I do like to sleep, you just need to take me for a nice walk when you come home. I am pretty good on the leash and don't pull too much. I am great around people and don't bark to often. I do like to have a home that is calm and maybe just one other dog or cat - as long as they don't pester me too much. I am up to date with my vaccines and microchipped as well.

Benji does show some signs of hearing loss, but not quite sure if it is just selective. Benji needs to be groomed every few months to keep his coat in optimum shape. He has the wonderful sad eyes that draw you in to fall for him.

I know, I know ….. I’m cute but it’s a curse I’ve learned to live with. My name is Scrappy, I am 16 months old and weigh 18.5 lbs. I am happy, cuddly (I know I was born a lap dog), love to give kisses almost as much as I love to go for walks, run and play. I love being outside so much that, if given the opportunity, I will run out the door so that you can play ‘catch me if you can’ with me (it’s fun … you’ll see!!) I sit when told to and will shake a paw when asked. I am very friendly but also can be a little shy (and vocal) with strangers although I do respond when told ‘enough’. I will meet you at the door and greet you like it’s the first time we’ve ever met whether you have been at work all day or just took the garbage out. Living at my foster home has been a learning experience because I was not fully housetrained when I got here … but that has changed. I love going outside and having fun in the snow (my foster mom laughs at me when I come in and says I look like the Grinch Who Stole Christmas dog …. whoever that is!!). I have had all my vaccines and been neutered. As much fun as I am having at my foster home, I am dreaming of having my own family to love and be loved …. forever.

My name is Kandi, I am 8 years old and weigh about 20 lbs. I still a little overweight, but I am happy and cuddly and love to go for walks and run and play. I am quite friendly but also can be a little shy with strangers. Living at my foster home has been a learning experience because where my brothers and sisters and I came from, was really messy and there were no rules. No one took the time to train me or take me out much.

I have had a lot of puppies but they were always taken away from me and before I knew it, I was having another batch. Now Tiny Paws has taken care of that and groomed me and bathed and fixed my ear infections and my eyes are all cleared up too. I have had all my vaccines and a whole lot of medicine for a few weeks. My foster mom thinks she fooled me by sticking the pills into a piece of chicken, but most of the time I would just eat it and other times I would spit it out just for fun. You should have seen her face, they just don't know how easy it is to eat the chicken and later spit the pill out - its hilarious to see the looks on humans faces. I have lost a few pounds since I came here and most of that was from a hair cut as we were all very messy and couldn't see for mats and tangles in our coats. Now I smell great and don't itch anymore. Life is good, but it will be better when I have my own family to love me forever. Thanks for listening and I hope to hear from you soon.

Lucy - 3 Year old, Female Shih Tzu / Poodle Mix

Lucy is Tiny Paw's newest rescue. She is a 3 year old Shipoo, approximately 16 pounds and barely sheds.

It didn’t take long for Lucy to warm up to her foster mom. She follows her foster mom from room to room and will lie on the floor and watch. She does not jump on the furniture and only comes up when invited (a new development in the last couple days – she likes to curl up with us on the couch).

She has such a sweet temperament and is so gentle in nature. I think she’ll be fantastic for an older couple in a quiet home with no kids. She is completely housebroken, and is used to being groomed. Lucy is quite smart and eager to please – she knows sit, shake, down and roll over. She does bark when she hears people in the hallway, but not to an extreme so apartment living would still be fine for her. Lucy is going to start training with Bark Busters, and once she is adopted, her new family can continue her training with them - once a Bark Busters client, always a client. They will continue to assist the new family with their services.

Lucy is very low maintenance; she is not high energy and does not need long walks, but does enjoy it when she is out. Squirrels always get her attention and she’d chase them in a second if she was off leash. She doesn’t like manholes and always avoids them. She does not know heal, but does enjoy the freedom of a flexi lead in the park. She is curious about some dogs and says hello, while others she growls and hides behind me. Size doesn’t necessarily matter.

As for Lucy's diet, she’s a bit finicky, and eats her meals slowly, but does eat regularly. Her favorite treat so far is cheese. Her manners are very good in the sense that she takes food from hand gently and does not beg when we are eating. She is crate trained. At night and when no one is home, she is in an excercise pen. There is no separation anxiety. She doesn’t seem to like toys much, she plays with a tennis ball in the house a bit, but doesn’t seem to care for fetch or any games. She doesn’t seem to be dominant and does not want to be leader, but would rather follow.

Her foster mom says she’s curious about everything and everyone, and is generally a well rounded doggy, she’s just not confident enough yet. With a good boost in her self confidence and some socialization with people, dogs, various situations and noises of the city, she’ll be a great pet.

This sweet little lady is a great companion. Because of Lily’s gentle demeanor, she is well behaved on walks and is very calm in the house. She is friendly and non-aggressive with everyone she meets and is very good meeting new dogs on her walks. Lily does not have the typical high energy that Jacks usually have but enjoys a good game of rolling around on the floor getting her belly rubbed. She’s happy to cuddle on the sofa with you and takes a snooze in the front window while waiting for you to come home.

Lily is healthy and the vet believes she is a young 5 to 7 year old. She has recently been spayed so will never have to have puppies again. She is housetrained, up to date on her vaccinations and her teeth have been cleaned. She will not do well in a home with cats or other small dogs. Lily has a high prey drive for squirrels and other small animals. Dogs that are her size or larger would be fine.

Lily is an easy dog to care for and the family who adopts her will be very lucky indeed.

Josh - 12 Year old, Male Poodle

Josh is a 12 yr old junior senior poodle who is very cute and loves to cuddle. I am quiet, gentle and calm and need a quiet home, a home with older children would be fine.

I may be up there in age, but I still have lots of life left and tons of love. I love to go for walks and donʼt mind wearing a harness one bit. The best for me is the cuddles. I love to curl up with my foster family on the couch. I also enjoy simply wandering around outside in the back yard on a nice mild day exploring. I am neutered and up to date with vaccines. I also have my microchip. I have had a few accidents in the house, but I am getting better when I learn the routine in your home. I have been loved all my life, but my dad had to go to a nursing home, so Tiny Paws is looking after me until they can find me a new forever home. I really want my own space to call my own, nice gentle walks and great chats and cuddles. I wouldnʼt mind having foster brothers or sisters as long as they are kind and gentle. I am a very good dog when my foster family is gone. I am very quiet and I donʼt disturb a thing. I sleep well at night. Right now I sleep in a crate, and thatʼs ok, but would really like a nice soft bed of my own. Please think of me when you are looking for a new buddy. I wonʼt let you down. Tia - 8 Year Old, Female Shih Tzu Mix

Tia is an 8 year old Shih Tzu mix who weighs about 16 pounds. She is a spayed female who is up date on her shots.

Tia was picked up as a stray at another shelter in mid June 2007. She just recently came to Tiny Paws with her foster mom. Tia has is hypothyroid and requires meds to treat this condition. Tia has some skin issues that could be improved with a medicated bath and good grooming. She did have a yeast infection in the past but is improving greatly. Her coat is getting thicker from when she first came to her foster home.

Socially she is a great little dog who gets along with everyone and other dogs ( her foster home has four). Tia has no experience with cats but would be suprised if there was an issue. She is house trained but needs to be prompted to go out, does not ask. Wonderful, sweet little girl who would be a great companion. She probably would like to be with another dog in the house, but as long as she is with a person she would be happy.
