Toddy - 7 Year Old, Male Cocker/Bichon/Shih Tzu

toddy

Toddy - is being fostered in Lacombe, Alberta.  He is only available to adopters in Alberta.

7 yr old male Cocker / Bichon / Shih Tzu Mix.

Toddy had the very best owner. She made the very difficult decision to place him in rescue because of her health issues as she knew, due to her limitations, that his quality of life would be better with a new family.

Toddy is a very happy little dog that is easy to get along with.

His former owner got him at age 2 from the Humane Society. Up to that point he had not been well looked after. He was skinny, and had been left alone alot. Besides being underweight, he had two cherry eyes and was unneutered (which the humane society took care of).

Before she got sick, his former owner used to take him to the dog park daily where he loved to run and got along well with the other dogs. When not in a dog park, Toddy should be walked on a leash as he did take off after a rabbit once.

Toddy’s Foster Mom agrees that he is a sweet and happy dog. He is allowed up on the big chair and ottoman to sit with his humans where he likes to spend time curled up on their laps. As well, he is allowed up on the other big chair where he watches out the window at the comings and goings (he does bark when he sees something of interest out the window, such as other dogs, horses, people, etc.).

Toddy sleeps on his Foster Mom’s bed just like he used to at home.  He is very quiet on the bed and stays put all night. He loves his morning rubs.

Toddy weights over 20 pounds and his vaccinations are up to date. He is house trained. He has some food allergies (eats vegetarian dog kibble plus carrots for a treat). He has the typical cocker spaniel ears which are prone to infections. As well once or twice a year he has very minor seizures which only last a few minutes. These are basically controlled by an inexpensive small tablet prescribed by his vet. He takes these willingly and in fact if you are late giving him his tablet (in a bit of a cheese slice) he comes to your side and grumbles/talks to you to tell you it is time. If you choose to ignore him, he will keep telling you in louder terms until he is barking that he wants something. When you go to the fridge to get his cheese, he gets so excited – he stands up on his back legs, puts his front paws together and flaps them up and down in anticipation (so very, very sweet).

Toddy gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home. He really is a wonderful and handsome dog who will make some family a great pet and companion.

Toddy's Adoption Fee is $275.00.
