Menneke - 12 Year Old, Male Yorkie

Menneke

Menneke

Hello, my name is Menneke – pronounced “Men-ah-kee”. It’s Dutch for “Little Man”. Little I definitely am, I weigh only 5lbs. A man I definitely was – my career was that of a stud within a breeding program. Since joining Tiny Paws in March, I’ve retired at the age of 12 and don’t feel quite as manly as I used to, can’t put my finger on it, but something sure is different. I am originally from Alabama and am a purebred Yorkshire Terrier, I even have AKC papers to prove it.

Though I may be a bit thin, I have a very healthy appetite and never leave food in my dish, which is a talent in itself. You see, dental care was never big on my last family’s priority list, and so I have lost all my teeth. While some may laugh at me because I look funny with my tongue hanging out, I simply can’t help it. But you know what they say “don’t judge a book by its cover” and I’m no exception to that rule - I’m full of personality and will win your heart over in no time.

I am living in Toronto at the moment and now that I am comfortable with my foster family and their routine, I love to lay on the sofa with them and follow them around to see what they’re up to. I am house-trained and pee pad trained. At night and when no one is home, I sleep quietly in my own bed and use the pee pad when I need to. One of my favorite pastimes is to go for walks. I love to sniff and explore and meet people and dogs, though I don’t have much patience for puppies who want to play.

I am up to date on all my shots, micro chipped, neutered (which explains why I don’t feel so manly anymore!) and have no health problems. Won’t you consider adopting me so I can have a home in which
to enjoy my retirement?

A NOTE FROM MENNEKE’S FOSTER MOM:
Menneke is such a sweetheart, and so cute he really does steal your heart away. It took him a couple days to warm up to us. At first, we would go to him to pet him, now he comes to us and is becoming quite
the cuddle bug. I don’t know how he is around cats, but I suspect he wouldn’t bother with them if they were around. When company is over, he’ll say hello to everyone, soak up as much attention from each person as he can, and then cuddle up with his favorite visitor (the one who pets the most). He likes to nap after his meals and is very low maintenance but perks right up when he’s out on walks. He has days where he just wants to lay around and other days he’s full of energy and follows me around excitedly looking for as much attention as I’m willing to give. He makes almost no noise – he’s barked once since he’s been with us and even that was very quiet – so apartment living is just fine. He comes with his bed and all his bedding, grooming supplies, dishes, harness, collar and of course, his AKC papers.
