Heidi & Harry - 10/9 Year Old, Dachshunds
Mother and Son: Heidi & Harry - To be adopter together.
Heidi
Hello, my name is Heidi and I am a 10 year old miniature short haired dachshund. I am a little shy initially but once I warm up to you we will be life long friends. I love giving and getting attention and will curl up in your lap or under the blankets right next to you for hours. I may be 10 years old (and a little grey around my muzzle) but that certainly doesn’t slow me down a whole bunch. My foster mom has a hard time telling me apart from her own baby girl as we look so much alike and seem to get into similar trouble. I enjoy going for walks but do need to wear a harness as I have a tendency to pull because I am so excited to explore and share with you all the wonderful things I have found. My foster mom keeps opening up a door and putting me outside (without my leash) and I’m not too sure what to make of this. My foster furfriends run out this door like it’s the best thing since belly rubs but I don’t understand their enthusiasm. I’ve never been outside before without being on my leash and going in the big box that moves up and down (my foster mom called this an elevator). I get along well with other dogs but have no experience with something called ‘cats’ (so I overheard my foster mom say… What’s a cat??) I’ve also discovered something called stairs. I wasn’t too sure what to think of these either but once I got the hang of them …. they’re kind of cool. You can go all kinds of places once you master stairs… who ever heard of a rec room before?!?! I will need patience and training when it comes to something called ‘housetraining’. I was left alone (and pregnant) so much as a puppy that I never mastered this very important skill. I will use papers and training pads but would like to figure out this preferred method of ‘toileting’ to be the perfect pet so that my next home will be my forever home and I won’t be given away… yet again.
I have been to the vet and am in very good health. I weigh 15 lbs and the vet is very impressed with my heart (no murmers). I have had some teeth removed due to a lack of dental care in the past but it certainly doesn’t slow me down when it comes to my rawhides! There is residual tartar which my new family would have to help me get rid of.
Harry
Hi there, my name is Harry and I am a 9 year old miniature long haired dachshund and Heidi’s son. I love people and will allow you to rub my belly as soon as I have given you the once over (should take about 7.4 seconds … be patient). I love long walks, tennis balls and rawhides (in no particular order) and will curl up beside you, on you or around you whether you request it or not. My foster mom says I do the sweetest little thing with my front paws that she finds adorable… I don’t know what she’s talking about, I’m only doing what I do best… being cute! Like my mom I’m getting used to this huge backyard my foster furfriends seem to love so much. I too will need time and patience for the housetraining process. I really do want to be as little work as possible so you will love me and keep me. I’m amazed about all the neat things that I have seen, smelled and heard. The big guy (a ‘husky’ I’m told) who lives next door will never come into my foster mom’s backyard as long as I am around… he knows better now ‘cause I told him!!! My hair and ears are pretty soft according to my foster mom because she pets me and plays with my ears endlessly while watching TV. I get along well with my foster friends but would really love to find my forever home soon so I can get on with the business of loving and being loved. As with my mom, I have no idea what a cat is but have no doubt it would love me too!
I have been to the vet he told my foster mom that he is very impressed with my overall health. I weigh 17 lbs and except for some tartar on my teeth I am in great shape. My new family will have to help me get rid of the tartar… I can’t do it by myself.
Foster mom here…
Heidi and Harry have been together for 9 years so it would be so very awesome if they could be adopted together. They will play independently of each other but one of them will invariably come in search of the other. They sleep together at night and truly do seem to dote on one another. Harry will come to his mom’s defense when my female starts thinking she can give Heidi what for… and vice versa. Please consider opening your heart and home to these two loving, adorable and deserving dogs. I assure you you won’t be disappointed.
Heidi & Harry's Adoption Fee together is $300.00.
